Lymphocyte Growth Supplement is a complex mixture of growth promoters that have a marked stimulatory effect on peripheral lymphocyte cultures. Lymphocyte Growth Supplement has been found to boost cell growth and therefore mitotic index as well as improving chromosome morphology. Lymphocyte Growth Supplement can reduce culture times from 72 hours down to 48 hours, particularly useful for urgent samples and samples arriving midweek.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Lymphocyte Growth Supplement is a media additive that greatly improves cell growth and morphology in blood cultures by exposing these cells to growth factors that are known growth promoters.

Lymphocyte Growth Supplement has a marked stimulatory effect on bloods. It is a complex mixture of growth factors dissolved in DMEM containing FCS.

Advantages that will be seen in blood cultures are the following:

• a significant improvement in cell growth, even in very poor samples
• improved morphology and GTG banding
• a decrease in turn-around times

Store refrigerated until used. Do not freeze.

PROCEDURE
Add 1 part of Lymphocyte Growth Supplement to 100 parts of normal foetal calf supplemented culture medium (Hams F10, RPMI, DMEM). Do not use in greater concentrations, as a medium nor as a FCS replacement. When first using Lymphocyte Growth Supplement, if possible, two cultures should be set up per specimen, one supplemented with Lymphocyte Growth Supplement and one without.

QUALITY CONTROL
All batches are tested on established cell lines, with mitotic index and morphology assessed using phase contrast microscopy. The chromosome morphology and band length are assessed by scoring for the presence of chromosome bands routinely observed in greater than 450 band cytogenetic preparations. The test lot must perform statistically better than the control.
