Root Cause Analysis
Root cause analysis (or RCA) is used to identify the root cause of a problem or event, the principle being that any problems are best resolved by tackling the root cause and eliminating this, as opposed to addressing the effect of this root cause. Through the use of root cause analysis corrective actions can be directed at the root of the problem thus reducing the likelihood that the event shall occur again, although it is rarely possible to eliminate the reoccurrence by a single intervention and thus root cause analysis is used as part of the continual improvement cycle.
iPassport QMS provides you with the tools to perform root cause analysis through the tracking and monitoring of non-compliance and incident events, this information can be easily exported as a csv file which then allows you to use the data as part of a wider investigation, once the root cause analysis has been performed the results can then be loaded into iPassport QMS as a controlled and actionable document. The task driven approach taken within iPassport QMS allows for the actioning of recommendations from the root cause analysis, which allows you to easily monitor what work has been accomplished and this can then again be exported so that it can take part in any further investigation, or root cause analysis should the need arise.
The recording and storage of any root cause analysis makes iPassport QMS ideally suited for the laboratory environment when it is important to be able to get to the bottom of any non-compliance or incident event quickly.
