Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA)

Corrective and preventative actions (CAPA) are changes implemented to address a weakness in a management system, with corrective actions normally being issued as a result of, or response to: a customer complaint, internal nonconformity, nonconformity identified as a result of an internal audit etc, whereas a preventative actions is normally issued in response to an event that although may not yet be causing a non-conformance it has the potential to. Corrective and preventative actions or CAPA as they are often known as, together are a systematic investigation of discrepancies in an attempt to prevent them occurring again. The CAPA tool is an essential part of any quality management system, without this critical tool it is not possible to comply with the rigorous laboratory standards in existence today.

iPassport QMS provides the tools required to both log corrective and preventative actions and to action these, with these tools iPassport QMS allows for simple recording of corrective and preventative actions through its sophisticated noncompliance feature, breaking down noncompliance’s into either corrective or preventative actions, and while taking you through this recording phase it allows you to use the task engine to assign corrective actions so that you can keep on top of these serious events.

iPassport then allows the user to export this valuable data in a csv format allowing the user to then perform a root cause analysis, helping to indentify any trends that may exist within the recorded corrective and preventative actions.
